Warm Up – May 29-30

What perception do you think people around the globe have of Los Angeles? Based on what people see in the media, what stereotypes do you think people associate with life in L.A.?

Final Project – FDAHS 2011-12

For this project you need to think outside the box and work quickly (this project is June 12th).

Instructions

  1. Create media inspired by the theme “L.A. Life”.
  2. Work with a partner or individually.
  3. Use materials available in class (color pencil, stencil, video, audio, paper, magazines, etc).
  4. Reference an artist or artwork.

GRADE INFO: Each artwork will be graded by your peers and prizes will be awarded to the two most successful projects  in class.

Presentation Outline

Group presentations will be conducted in class making up 25% of your projects final grade. You will be graded as outline below.

Introduction (9 points x2)

  • Introduce group members. (3 points)
  • Give a brief introduction to your project. (3 points)
  • Project film. (3 points)

Reflection (20 points x2)

  1. How did each person contribute to the group? (5 points)
  2. What challenges did you face during the project? (5 points)
  3. Favorite part? Least favorite part? (5 points)
  4. What would you have liked to do to improve your film? (5 points)
  5. Share any interesting information or experiences you had during your group project. (5 points)

ICEF Public Schools 2nd Annual Art Exhibit (Opening May 4th, 2012)

ICEF Public Schools Visual Arts program proudly presents the 2nd Annual All ICEF Art Exhibit.

This is a wonderful capstone event where ICEF Public Schools students will be showcasing their artwork in a professional gallery setting, the Norm Maxwell Gallery. For many of the K-12th grade students, this will be the first time in a gallery, and seeing their work showcased in this type of venue.
Come enjoy the spirit of creativity, support the students, and see the amazing variety of art they have created throughout the school year! The projects showcase the range of styles, techniques, materials, and projects that the ICEF Visual Arts instructors teach in class.

Opening reception on Friday May 4th, 5 – 8 pm

Family Day (with art making workshops) on Sat. May 5 11 am -3 pm

Download a YouTube Video into an mp3

To download a YouTube video as an mp3 sound file is very simple. Follow these steps.

1. Go you YouTube to search for a song or audio that you want to use.

2. Copy the URL of that video.

3. Go to www.youtube-mp3.org

4. Paste the URL in the bar above where it says “Convert Video” (see image below)

6. Click Download after new window opens. (see below)

The file will then save to your Downloads folder or wherever your downloads get saved.

In an effort to record the year of his life leading up to the millennium, Jeff Harris began a project in which he used his trusty Olympic Stylus 35mm film camera (he’s since gone through six) to take a self-portrait each day and then posted the results on his website.
